Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the merits of family sports scholarship and volunteering for the community. In the first place Selmon was raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, who lived on their Eufala farm. He was the smallest of nine kids. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most effective offensive lineman of the national by Outland as well as Lombardi. Outland Awards. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was awarded the title of a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree of education. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering in his college days. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times, and began a business career. The year 1988 was the first time he started working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. In addition, he was inducted into the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He and his parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
